The Best Golf Courses in Osoyoos

With long, hot summer days and short winters as the norm, Osoyoos is a great place to take in a little golf.
Within the town of Osoyoos itself there are a couple of great courses, and there are plenty of others a short drive away. Here are the local faves.
 

1. Osoyoos Golf and Country Club

With two 18-hole championship golf courses (Park Meadows and Desert Gold), the Osoyoos Golf Club is popular with avid golfers.
Not only is the golf experience great, but the views of Osoyoos Lake, the surrounding fruit orchards and of course the charming little town of Osoyoos serve as backdrop to a great game of golf. The Park Meadows course has a park-like environment that is great for walking. The link-style Desert Gold course is the more challenging of the two courses.
After golf, we love to grab a bite at the Greenside Grill. Featuring three dining areas, large patios and impressive views of the valley, dining at the Osoyoos Golf Club is popular even for non-golfers. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious choices and the setting is perfect for sipping a cold drink and relaxing with a bite to eat.

Alan Campbell of the Richmond News wrote of the Desert Gold course:
“Cultivated out of a “desert bench”, the 6,500 yard par 71 Desert Gold course cuts along a camber for the first few holes as it slides along the side of the hill. It then climbs up and around the mountain, gradually exposing you to arresting views, which spark the camera into action, with each sight slam-dunking the previous, up to about the 15th hole. Panoramic sights aside, the course’s neatly trimmed and lush fairways are framed by dusty desert brush.”
 

2. Sonora Dunes Golf Course

This 9-hole, par 35 course sits on a sun-soaked hillside over Osoyoos Lake and is surrounded by desert mountains and a sagebrush-dotted landscape.
The perfectly manicured greens are nestled between the base of the mountain and the edge of the Nk’mip Winery vineyard. The course is fun and affordable for golfers of all abilities.
After a round of golf, we love to grab a table on the patio and order up a gourmet hamburger fresh off the barbecue at Sonora Dunes Grill. Or walk to neighbouring Mica Restaurant, a gorgeous upscale restaurant offering fabulous food and award-winning wine. From the deck of the Mica Restaurant, the views of Osoyoos Lake and the valley are spectacular.
