The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course stretches out across scenic ridges and meandering streams, while offering beautiful vistas of the surrounding landscape.
The elegant design of the course makes it very enjoyable to play, even though it’s set within challenging, rugged terrain – carved right into the side of Blackcomb Mountain.
The mountain course makes its way across granite rock, stands of ancient Douglas fir and clear-running streams. It was described by Links Magazine as “Mountain Golf at its finest.”
The course has received the Best New Resort Course in Canada award from Golf Digest, as well as many other prestigious honours. Created by legendary designer Jack Nicklaus, this 18-hole Nicklaus North Golf Course adheres to his very high standards and showcases his unique creative touch.
Nicklaus was inspired by the surrounding scenery – snowcapped peaks, emerald-coloured lakes, majestic fir trees and crisp mountain air – to create one of the best championship courses in Canada.
Nicklaus North Golf Course has hosted many prestigious golf tournaments, including the Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf Tournament and the Skins Game. The course offers a challenge for golfers of all skill levels, as it is designed with five sets of tees, each offering a different experience.
Out of the 150 golf courses around the world that Jack Nicklaus has designed, this is the only one to which he give his name – which must mean that he is quite proud of the superb golfing experience here! The golf club also offers a custom club fitting and repair centre, as well as Palmer’s Gallery Bar and Grill.

4. Furry Creek Golf and Country Club

One of the most scenic golf courses in Canada, Furry Creek expertly captures the character of the surrounding mountain terrain.
This enticing 18-hole course was designed by Robert Muir Graves and offers panoramic views of the ocean. It’s located along the Sea to Sky Highway, only 35 minutes north of Vancouver.
You’ll be treated to an ever-changing landscape as you make your way along the fairways. The course offers everything from granite side slopes to forested mountains to creeks and much more. The 14th Par 3 is particularly impressive, as it thrusts out into the waters of Howe Sound.
Furry Creek is also known for its Sea to Sky Grill, which offers high-quality local ingredients prepared so that their unique flavours really shine. Eating on the outdoor patio is a great experience, as the views over Howe Sound are a treat for the eyes.

5. Big Sky Golf & Country Club

The 18-hole Big Sky Golf & Country Club is located only a short drive north of Whistler at the foot of Mount Currie. It was designed by Robert Cupp and offers a beautiful set of links that includes ponds and natural vegetation. It’s the longest of the four championship courses in Whistler and was voted the “Best Course in BC” by the Vancouver Sun Golf Guide. Take in awe-inspiring vistas at every hole.
The golf course has a number of high-quality facilities, including the Pro Shop and the luxurious Fescue’s Restaurant and Patio. Also, be sure to admire the original metallic sculptures by Davide Pan.
Big Sky Golf and Country Club is located only a 25 minute drive north of Whistler Village, so it won’t take you long to reach these gentle rolling links set within a wild and untamed mountain environment.
