Seeking out some frighteningly fun activities for the Halloween season? Our Leavetown destinations are holding some spooktacular events – attend if you dare….

Halloween is almost here and there are tons of wonderful events happening in our Leavetown destinations to celebrate this most spooktacular of holidays!
From family friendly bonfires to fireworks and fancy dress, here are some of the best events on the calendar for spooky festivities in our Western Canadian mountain destinations…

WHISTLER

Whistler Haunted House
Ready to get spooked?  For the past 4 years, the Whistler Haunted House has been haunting souls while raising funds for people in need in the Whistler Community. Head over to the Courtyard at the Westin Resort and Spa Oct. 27 and 28 from 6pm to 10pm or Oct. 29 to 31 during the hours of 12pm to 4pm, 6pm to 10pm. Cost is $5 minimum donation per person for the Daytime Haunt (great for families) or for the Full Scare in the evening (mature audience suggested), a $10 minimum donation per person. Group tickets are available.

BANFF

Halloween Bonfire and Fireworks
Come and celebrate Halloween at this annual family-friendly Halloween event at Banff Recreation Grounds, sponsored by the Banff Firefighters Association in partnership with the Town of Banff. Enjoy free hot dogs and hot chocolate by the bonfire and stick around for the fireworks at 8 p.m. Don’t forget to wear your costumes! Walk down to the event and be sure to carry a flashlight and wear reflective clothing. Keep your pets at home if they are nervous around loud noises. From 7pm onwards on October 31st.
Fairmont Haunted Halloween Gala
On October 29th, the Fairmont Springs Hotel in Banff is hosting the wedding of the infamous Ghost Bride who resides at the hotel! Spend the night in one of Alberta’s most historic hotels and see for yourself if the rumours of its haunting are true. Join us for an amazing multi-room Halloween Gala to include a live DJ, performers, food & drink and many more surprises throughout the night! Guests are encouraged to dress in their best costumes for the event, but please try not to upstage the bride…
Kids are also invited to join in on the Halloween fun at the hotel at the Kids Haunted Halloween Bash from 6:00pm to Midnight! Expect festive games, mask making, costuming design, spooky stories and so much more.

KELOWNA

Family Pumpkin Carving Fun
Join us for an evening of making pumpkin carving creations from 6.30 to 8.30 on October 26th! Let us provide the tools for you and your child to get creative and carve an exciting Jack-O-Lantern. One pumpkin per family will be provided. Extra pumpkins are available upon request for an additional charge.
Spooky Swamp Swim
Ghoulish games, treats, prizes and more from 6- 8.30 on October 29th. There will only be 50 spots available for walk-ins for the swim, so we recommend buying tickets in advance to reserve your spot. See you there… if you dare! $4 Admission/Person/Swim (No punch cards or passes accepted)
Family Monster Bash
This event is taking place from 1pm to 4pm on October 30th. Admission is free for the whole family! Come for the obstacle course and bouncy house, plus active games on the field and free skating! Children must be accompanied by an adult.

VANCOUVER

The Zombie Syndrome Theatre Adventure
Zombies are a big deal in Vancouver, especially around Halloween! Back for its fifth season, The Zombie Syndrome–produced by The Virtual Stage–is an “interactive theatre adventure” that happens outside; this year, the production moves from Downtown Vancouver to Granville Island. Audience members find clues to stop a zombie plague, all while outrunning the walking dead! October 4 – 31, 2016
Fright Nights at the PNE
It’s our favourite time of fear. Experience the freaky, terrifying and much less cheerful doppelganger of Playland, Fright Nights, select nights through October 31. Featuring 7 haunted houses, 15 rides and 2 thrilling live shows, all you’ll need to bring is yourself, your friends to protect you and a change of pants… just in case.
Stanley Park Ghost Train
Oct 8-31 Each year the Stanley Park Ghost Train takes our riders on a journey through a mystical and magical world, inspired by Hallowe’en and other spooky tales. This family event is open to all age and offers a fright free glimpse of the whimsical world of ghosts and ghouls. Plaza activities include the Haunted Maze, arts and crafts, exhibits by the Stanley Park Ecological Society, and our pumpkin match.
Vancouver Haunted Trolley Tours
Aimed at visitors 13 and older, Vancouver Haunted Trolley Tours explore Vancouver’s creepiest spots, including Mountain View Cemetery and the autopsy room of the Vancouver Police Museum. Tours last 2.5 hours and run daily; pre-registration is required.October 14 – 31, 2016 – closed Sundays & Mondays, but open Sunday, October 30, and Monday, October 31
Halloweenie at Granville Island Kids Market
Oct 30th What better way to spend the day before Halloween at the number one kids market in all of Vancouver? Halloweenie at Granville Island Kids Market is free and fun for all ages! Dress up, take part in a Halloween Balloon Hunt, get creative with some crafts, play games, and receive a free hotdog and drink (for kids in their costumes).Party on, the Halloweenie way! Times are not listed on the website, but in past years, Halloweenie happened from 12-3pm
