Silver Star Mountain features the best of both worlds: small-town charm with big mountain terrain. This world class resort is renowned for being one of Canada’s most popular family destinations, boasting fantastic beginners’ runs in addition to 55km of groomed Nordic trails, backcountry terrain and Terrain Park in addition to classic alpine runs. In fact, SilverStar Mountain Resort is the 3rd largest ski area in the province, with 3,282 skiable acres, 11 lifts and 132 runs.
The colourful snow-capped buildings that line the Village give a magical feel to the mountain, reminiscent of a fairytale town. And although the tight-knit resort community may be small, there are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs to keep guests busy and entertained between runs. Of course, the Village itself – located mid-mountain with trails leading to chairlifts at its base – is perhaps best known for offering true ski-in, ski-out access directly from guests’ doorsteps.

The Terrain
Overlooking BC’s Okanagan Valley and with gorgeous surrounding views of the Monashee Mountains, Silver Star Mountain provides 100% natural dry powder that beginners and experts alike can appreciate. Guests to SilverStar Mountain Resort truly vary – from snowboarders, veteran skiers, complete beginners, long-time XC skiers and everything in between. In addition to boasting an elevation of 5,280 ft and a summit 6.280 ft above sea level, SilverStar happens to offer some of the best cross country skiing in the world with over 105km of daily groomed trails – the largest of its kind in the country.
Although the resort can host 14,000 skiers and snowboarders per hour, it often feels as if you have the trail to yourself. Because of SilverStar’s size and many routes, it is the perfect option for those hoping to avoid the crowds. Guests can choose to explore four mountain faces, including Vance Creek (better for beginners), Attridge, Silver Woods and Putnam Creek (for experienced skiers).

The Resort
Like something out of a movie, the quaint Village Centre provides guests with everything they need during their stay: watering holes, fine dining, family-friendly diners, clothing stores – and even a candy shop! For 60 years, many of SilverStar accommodations have followed the long-standing tradition of painting the exteriors of their homes in 5 different colours, providing a unique experience for newcomers and old-world charm to regulars.
In addition to featuring 9 on-mountain accommodation options suitable for all types of mountain visitors, 18 restaurants, bars and cafes allow guests with plenty of opportunity to warm up and refuel after a day on the slopes.
For anyone looking for non-skiing activities, SilverStar can also deliver. 16km of snowshoe trails and an exciting network of shared fat biking routes provide another kind of winter exercise. Families will love the outdoor ice skating rink at frozen Brewer’s Pond, surrounded by trees and lighting up at night, or tubing at the neighbouring Tube Town. For indoor recreation, the nearby National Altitude Training Centre offers a rock climbing wall, while Pinheads Bowling Alley at Firelight Lodge features slopeside 10-pin bowling. The beautiful resort at Silver Star truly showcases the best of BC’s snow, and offers a memorable ski and snowboard experience to guests of all skill levels.
