Viva La Niña!

Tons of early snowfall means we are gearing up for some huge powder this 2016 ski season!

La Niña looks like it may be making an appearance this winter after all! After months of uncertainty among weather forecasters as to what weather fronts 2016’s winter would hold, a mild La Niña now looks to be on the horizon. For those of you not familiar with the term “La Niña” it basically means that for Western Canada, we expect to see more snow than average in the mountains. And with plenty of ski resorts across Western Canada reporting record breaking amounts of snow through October and beginning of November, to us it means a prime ski season!
With early snowfalls covering the slopes of various ski resorts across BC and Alberta, we’ve been closely watching snowcams, just itching to get our gear out and hit the slopes. You may think that’s a little much, but after Banff’s Sunshine Village Resort November 3rd opening, you may think twice. In fact, Sunshine Village just had it’s earliest opening in over 30 years… Thanks La Niña!
We’ve rounded up our top 5 early snowfall pics at our mountain destinations, to illustrate just how powder-ful this season is going to be!
