Water Activities at Osoyoos Lake: How to Make the Most of your Osoyoos Summer Getaway!

Osoyoos is a popular destination in BC known for its hot summers, and the ever popular Osoyoos Lake. A trip to Osoyoos in the summer will surely include a day spent on the lake. So to help you make the most of your Osoyoos getaway, we have made this list of the fun water activities on offer!

Osoyoos is popular with summer sun seekers due to the region’s high number of sunny days and large, warm lake perfect for swimming in!
Head down to Osoyoos Lake in the summer season and you will find many visitors and locals sun bathing, playing on the beach or watching their friends and family out on the water. Many flock to Osoyoos every summer to take advantage of the sun and get their annual fill of watersports. And no wonder: Osoyoos Lake has an average temperature of 24°C/70°F!
If you’re new to the area or looking for new activities to add to the agenda, here is a list of fun water activities to try this summer:

1. Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand up paddle boarding is the newest craze to hit the lakeshore. It’s a great way to explore the lakes and rivers all the while working on your balance and core strength. We love this human-powered way to explore Osoyoos Lake.
We have an exclusive offer through ATB Watersports, where Leavetown guests renting a paddleboard for 2 hours, get the third hour free! To find out more or to claim the deal, click here.

2. Boating & Boat Launches

Osoyoos has two public boat launches. The first is located at Haynes Point Provincial Park and the second is at Lion’s Park in downtown Osoyoos.
Boating is one of the most popular activities in Osoyoos. Every summer, the lake is full of people tubing, water skiing or wakeboarding. It’s perfect family fun, and always creates lasting memories. Plus, for those that aren’t too interested in being pulled by the boat can always lounge on deck while working on their tan.
It is important to note that the American border crosses Osoyoos Lake, just south of Haynes Point Provincial Park. Please pay attention to signs regarding border crossing.

3. Parasailing

Get high above Osoyoos Lake and look at the people below as you glide through the air and explore new heights! Parasailing is a thrilling adventure where you can feel what it’s like to parachute, without actually having to jump from a moving craft miles off the ground. Not only is parasailing a thrilling adventure, but it is also a great workout.

4. Kayaking

Explore the regions of Osoyoos Lake at your own pace by kayaking. You can glide along the shores or adventuring further to deeper depths.
Osoyoos Oxbows, which is a wetland area over at the head where the river feeds into the lake is a perfect area to adventure with a kayak. Some deem the area as having some of the best birdwatching opportunities in all of BC’s interior! You can kayak your way through its many passages, in and out of tall grass and other deep, marshy areas. It’s truly a peaceful channel away from the busyness of power boats.
Additionally, Leavetown guests can take advantage of our exclusive offer where if you rent a kayak for 2 hours through ATB Watersports, you get the third hour free! Find out more about our Osoyoos offers here.
